Easy green bean recipe

The green beans are boiled to a crispy yet tender texture and then sauteed in the plant-based spread of minced garlic and salt.

This recipe is gluten-free and vegan. You can make this dish quickly and simply for a vegan diet or even when you want to eat something quick and tasty.

These Vegan String Beans will go well with many of the recipes on my blog, inclusive of:

VEGAN LASAGNA

STUFFED MANICOTTI

MINI CRUSTLESS TOFU QUICHE

Main ingredients:

Fresh green beans

Take a pound of fresh green beans, which will be enough for your family. If making these green beans for one or two people, lower the portion and take it accordingly.

Make sure your beans are fresh and not canned green beans.

Plant-based spread

Take any plant-based spread to coat your beans with it. You can take plant-based butter made from coconut oil, olive oil, macadamia, and coconut, which will be great for your vegan diet.

Garlic

Take as many cloves as you like, as everyone has a different taste and liking for garlic. Some people like the extra flavor of garlic, while some people like just a dash of garlic because of the smell.

You can chop the garlic into tiny pieces, mince it, and apply the paste to coat the beans properly.

Lemon-pepper seasoning

You can make your own lemon pepper seasoning with lemon and pepper or bring it from the store.

Lemon pepper seasoning holds excellent value as it is nutritious and highly processed with low carbon and water. You can play around with this seasoning and add the required amount according to your taste.

Salt

Take salt as per your required taste. If your lemon pepper seasoning has salt in it, then don’t add additional salt over the green beans.

How can you store the leftover beans?

You can store the beans in various conditions and refrigerate them in an airtight container after cooking them.

You can also use aluminum foil or cling wrap by wrapping them tightly and placing them in the refrigerator. Frozen green beans can last for 4-5 days in the refrigerator.

Make sure you have let the beans cool down before storing them in the refrigerator. Storing them in the fridge makes the beans from the growing bacteria.

How to serve it as a meal?

This vegan green recipe is made to serve alongside carbohydrates as well as protein to make your meal balanced. Of course, you can choose your combination and make every meal distinctive and delicious.

But if you want to take these beans as a stand-alone meal, you can serve them with lemon by adding a little fresh lemon juice over the top to make it a little tangy. You can also add sriracha which adds flavor as well as color.

What can you serve with vegan green beans?

These sautéed green beans can be served with many dishes because of being a delight to the tastebuds as well as the eyes.

These green beans are made with mild flavors of garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon; hence, you can put them on the side of any dish you like.

These beans give any dish a garnished and good look and are tasteful. You will find these beans in different and diverse ethnicities; you can find these in American, Asian, and even Italian regions.

You can eat vegan string beans along with other vegan dishes like pasta and traditional green bean casserole.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh green beans trimmed and snapped in half
  • 3 tablespoons plant-based spread
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup onions chopped
  • ⅛ teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning or more to taste
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • 3 Easy steps to an incredible dish
  • STEP 1: Prepare The Ingredients.
  • The very first step is to washing and trims the green beans. Make sure you remove the top stem, while the bottom should be left as it is. If you want your beans to be smaller, cut them into smaller pieces.
  • Take the required amount of garlic cloves and mince them. You can use a garlic press to make the process easier.
  • STEP 2: Mix everything.
  • Now take a baking tray and cover it with parchment paper; you can also use silicone baking which would be a little challenging to clean.
  • Add plant-based spread, green beans, lemon pepper seasoning, garlic, and salt. Toss everything together in the baking tray and mix everything. Ensure all the beans are coated with the lemon pepper seasoning and the garlic is mixed with the beans properly.
  • Spread the beans evenly on the baking tray, and then you can top it with lemon slices for garnishment if you want.
  • STEP 3: Bake your beans and then serve.
  • Ensure you have preheated your oven to 400° F. When the oven is heated to the temperature, cook green beans and make sure you bake them for 14-15 minutes.
  • After they are done, you will see your beans turning a bit crispy and brown, but the shine wouldn’t go. If you like the beans more brown and crispy, you can bake them for a little longer, making them more cooked.
  • Even when the beans are of bright green color, they will still have a crunch while eating.
  • The garlic on top of the beans can turn blue by reacting with the acids from the lemon. But it’s not harmful or injurious to your health.

Or for the Stove top version

  • Add the string beans, onions, garlic and oli to the frying pan.
  • Cook for about 8-10 minutes or until tender.
