Luke 1:18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, whereby shall I know this? I am an old man and my wife has long since survived. ‘
LUKE 1: 5-25
Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous people (v. 6) who prayed for a child for many years. They felt the same frustrations and disappointments that any of us would feel but still believed in God. The Lord finally answered their prayers and sent his angel to tell the good news. What was Zacharias’ reaction? He couldn’t believe it! The very thing he prayed for was given and he doubted it was true. In the case of Zechariah, he still received his miracle. Perhaps his wife’s faith tempted him.
You can also pray for the right things. You may even be persistent and sincere, but would you be surprised if those prayers were suddenly answered today? Were you ready for your prayers to be answered?
Before the children of Israel were released from Egypt, they came by faith to the Passover. Their bags were packed and ready to go. We must anticipate that our prayers will be answered.
Imagine for a moment how you would feel or what you would do if the answer to your prayers were shown at this minute. Then, as much as possible, start thinking and behaving that way. You’ll find that your whole attitude will change when you focus on the answer, not the problem.
